LUSH Razzle Dazzle & Floating Island Bath Melt Review

NOTE - These products are vegan!

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my baths. A bathtub is pretty much a required component for any apartment I live in, and I have WAY too much bath and shower stuff. Body wash, soaps, bath salts, bubble baths, scrubs, etc. My bathroom is for sure a sanctuary, especially when I'm feeling stressed out.

So recently I decided to take the plunge and dig deeper into some more of Lush's products! I've always been a fan of their scrubs, masks, and some soaps, but I've never really ventured into their bath bombs, melts, or bubble bars.

So I went with a friend who's very lush savvy, and off we went!

The bath melts aren't very expensive, especially considering the prices you pay for Lush in general. With the exception of Ceridwen's Cauldron (Which is $8.95CAD for 80g), the rest are 20 grams and all are under $4.

I bought 4 to try out - 2x Razzle Dazzle, 1x Floating Island, and 1x You've Been Mangoed. So far I've used the Floating Island and a Razzle Dazzle, so here I'll talk about those two.

Razzle Dazzle
The first one I used was Floating Island, described on the website as "Creamy sandalwood luxury"- a mix of vanilla bean, lemon oil, and sandalwood. I LOVE sandalwood - its absolutely one of my favourite bath scents, so that was a no-brainer. The moisturizing elements are cocoa and shea butters. Fill up your tub with hot water, plop one of these guys in, and off you go!

The second I tried was Razzle Dazzle, the infamous melt that was trending on Facebook when someone thought it was soap and accidentally turned themselves pink! It's a bright fuchsia colour with a fine layer of silver glitter. On the website it's described as "Berry relaxing" - with a mixture of Persian lime oil, bergamot oil, and violet leaf, which supposedly combine to make a raspberry smell. The butters in this one are shea butter and cocoa, with jojoba oil.

They melt kind of like a marshmallow in water. It takes about 5 - 10 minutes for one to be gone completely, depending on how much you agitate the water. I'm going to review each one separately, because it was a very different experience despite the similar ingredients.

Straight up, I would buy this again. The scent was exactly as promised, sandalwood and vanilla - though not overpowering. It melted away and left my bathwater feeling silky and moisturizing without being greasy. I didn't notice any residual oil issues with my hair. Floating Island has no colour to it, so it just left my bathwater with a slight milky tint and a general oily sheen. When I got out, I noticed that my skin felt well moisturized and a little tacky - enough so that I could spread the residual oils around and rub them in a little. I didn't need any extra moisturizer like I normally would - the bomb took care of that nicely. ZERO negatives to post here.
traight up,

My one peeve about this is an issue you get with any oil product - it left the tub slick and with a ring. So be very, very careful getting out of the tub, and make sure to clean it before you use it again!

let's move on to Razzle Dazzle.

Razzle Dazzle
I still have another one of these to use, but I didn't love this one as much as I loved Floating Island. First off, the scent. While its supposed to be akin to Raspberry, I definitely found that it was distinctly floral instead. Maybe they were going for Raspberry leaf? It was just not at all what I think of when I think of the smell of raspberries. Don't get me wrong, it was still nice. Just, more floral. I could smell the jojoba in it.

Pink water!
Its a very similar experience to that of Floating Island. However, it does turn the water to a Koolaid level fuchsia with crazy saturation. I actually thought that was kinda cool! I didn't have any issues with staining - except for my tub. It didn't colour my skin or hair, but the ring around my tub is - you got it - hot pink. I'm also not sure how I feel about the glitter. It's clearly micro glitter, and I actually didn't notice it until I got out of the bathtub. I have a very gentle, extremely subtle, sparkle. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Especially because I don't love the idea of glitter in my, well, bits. You know.

The oils were great, as with Floating Island. I feel moisturized, skin a bit tacky but not overly so, and the oils sink in nicely. I get to skip my night time moisturizer for sure. Same caution on the tub though - it will be slippery! PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

Ring around the tub...
I'm not sure if I would re-purchase this product. The pink was a cute novelty, but not sure how I feel about the glitter. and the scent was a bit of a let-down. I was expecting it to be WAY fruitier!

The Low Down -
I would definitely buy Floating Island again. 10/10, awesome bath experience. Super relaxing, smelled just the way it was supposed to, great for my skin.

Would I buy Razzle Dazzle again? I'm not sure. Maybe? Leaning towards no. I would still say try it for yourself, if you like the idea. It's not something I wouldn't recommend, I just didn't love it.

Well, that's it for today! Sorry I've been away from the blog, things got a little crazy with back to school. Now that I've settled into a routine I'm hoping to be able to post more regularly again.
